An NAACP Townhall - The Page Amendment:  Pros and Cons of the Proposal (Virtual); Tuesday, March 30th, 2021, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The NAACP is hosting this event to provide members and the public with information regarding this important proposal to amend the Minnesota constitution.  Individuals supporting the amendment, including Former Supreme Court Justice Alan Page and President of the Minnesota Federal Reserve, Neel Kashkari as well as those in opposition to the amendment, to include Minnesota State Representative Cedrick Frazier, will take part in the Townhall.  Supporters want Minnesota voters to approve amending the state Constitution to say that a quality education for all children is a civil right. The Constitution's current language, which dates to the beginning of statehood, requires an "adequate" and "uniform" system of education. A constitutional amendment requires passage by both the house and senate, and then approval by a majority of voters in a future election. The Forum will be livestreamed on the NAACP Rochester Branch MN Facebook page.

Message from NAACP President, Minnesota/Dakotas Area State Conference

Members and Friends,

The NAACP Minnesota/Dakotas Area State Conference will host three events for members and the public in the next two weeks.   We need everyone to assist by sharing the attached flyer with your distribution networks.  The events will include a Forum to provide an informational overview of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.  The services of DLI are quite pertinent to social justice and immigrant advocate organizations. The Page Amendment Townhall as well as the COVID – 19 Forum are timely and important information for our all of our communities.   We sincerely appreciate your help in getting the word out regarding these events.

Regards,

W.C. Jordan, Jr.
